This was the second of our lifestyle shoots from The Photographers Way workshop this past June at the St. Giles house. Like our first shoot, we based the style and story off of the couple themselves. Lindsay has been an artist all her life. She creates beauty with many mediums: from letter press to abstract paintings, and now working on large scale drawings. She is an optimist and it is absolutely contagious to be around her warmth and smile. Paul is a deep thinker, a man who cares very much about integrity, goodness, and loving people well. Together, they have a chemistry that is hard not to be inspired by. They love each other without reserve, and support each others dreams no matter how different they are from their own.
We chose to tell the story of their love by creating a story line with the couple. We then captured images as their story unfolded. Initially we focused on what they both loved to do individually; Lindsay with her art, and Paul combing the library for a book to read. Eventually he pulls her in for a dance, and the rest of the shoot is characterized by beautiful movement as they run, play and enjoy each other through the stunning house and grounds.
The library was our choice of backdrop because of its mix of sophistication and ideas, earthy colours and open space. Lindsay’s dress was chosen because it could be both timeless, and comfortable enough for her to create art and dance around the living room in. Every other detail was chosen to support the story, all the while focusing most on the couple’s beautiful chemistry and love for each other.
This shoot tugged at the heartstrings of everyone involved because of how authentically the couple showed up and put their whole hearts into it. We are so grateful for them and the whole team that made this possible!
