From Claire Brown, the Photographer,
“This editorial was influenced by the incredible historic room in an Elizabethan Castle in which we shot. We were inspired by old world elegance paired with a minimal romantic feel. Details from eighteenth-century lining paper and nineteenth-century brickwork informed the aesthetics of the shoot. We wanted this shoot to challenge ourselves as creatives to imagine and create work we’d never done before.
For styling, we chose lots of organic materials and earthy textures for the tablescape. A textured linen cloth was the neutral base for minimal ceramics with luxe gold candles adorned with black cutlery and black tapered candles on top. The flowers were light and loose with single long stems, twigs, and cotton, daintily adding layers of height and airiness. Hues of white and blush kept it light and ethereal when paired with homely tones and textures. The bouquet was lush, feminine, and romantic; delightfully crafted with garden roses, effortlessly combined with cotton and twigs. Our stylist also created a statement floral headpiece with soft textures coming through in the cotton with color pops from the garden roses, adding a sculptural essence with the protruding twigs. The most intricate, stunning cake was inspired by the textures and hues of the decayed walls. Elegant stationery added another dimension of flowing botanical elements finished off with a wax seal stamp.
The feminine beauty of our model and light ethereal tulle gowns created a perfect contrast against the deterioration of the old room. In the Marella gown by Moira Hughes, three different layers of blush tulles work together to capture the light so the dress almost glows. Our model also wears an embroidered jumpsuit by Georgia Young designed for the fashion-forward bride, injecting a modern edge to the vision.”
