What better place to have your wedding than a favorite restaurant? Following their garden ceremony, Megan and Calvin hosted a vintage glam themed reception that was packed full of delicious food and some serious party people. Megan’s Vera Wang ruffled “June” gown was certainly a show stopper through the day, though! What a stunning bride she was in that dress.

The Ceremony
We chose Balboa Park for our ceremony because we both really love being outside and it’s one of the most beautiful parks in the country so the choice to have the wedding there was an easy one. We both live in D.C. and we had the wedding in San Diego for my dad. He had a heart transplant a few months prior to the wedding and has been really sick for the past few years, which is why he so generously bought me a Vera Wang gown. He was unable to travel due to his health so San Diego was the place we had to have the wedding at but it could not have been a better location. Half of my husbands family are talking about relocating now! I felt really calm the day of the wedding because we had been together for 5 years so it already felt like we were an old married couple. The man who married us is one if our dear friends, Chris Marohn.
The Reception
The reception was full of food, dancing, and love. Rather than a guest book, we had mad libs at every table and asked for the truth to come out as to why guests really came; was it the food or the free drinks!? We had tall romantic centerpieces of hydrangea, roses, and ranunculus. The best memory my husband and I have is my mom dancing until we had to shut the wedding down. With my dad being so sick, she needed a day to cut loose and did she ever! It was so nice to see her have this really special memory and day. The other memory was our first dance. It was as if no one else was there except for us.
Megan’s Dress Search
I tried on one dress, the dress I bought. I knew from the second I saw it, the dress was for me. I felt the same way about my husband: love at first sight! I was so happy that despite the mermaid silhouette, I could move in it! I think the key for me was knowing my body type and what dress would look good with my shape, not just what I thought would look good.
How Megan Felt in Her Wedding Dress
I felt beautiful, sexy, and romantic.
Why Megan Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I decided to sell my wedding dress because it took me 18 months to save the money for a wedding and it was so hard to wait that long for the big day! My dad bought me the dress because I couldn’t afford an extravagant dress plus the wedding. When he bought me the dress, he made me promise I would sell it to someone else so they too could have the dress of their dreams without the extravagant price tag that he so graciously paid.
