Is there a better place for a relaxed, bohemian wedding than a beautiful beach? We don’t think so, which is why we love Heidi and Mike’s wedding. Their theme was beach-chic done right, with a reception bursting with white florals with tropical accents provided by Mother Nature. Capping off the look, Heidi wore Hayden, a fantastic light pleated wedding dress from none other than Vera Wang.
Heidi + Mike | May 27, 2014 | Islamorada, Florida | Dress Listing: Vera Wang, Hayden
The Ceremony
The ceremony took place between two palm trees tied with ribbon in blush, gold and guava tones. The guests formed a semi-circle around the ceremony site and sipped on our signature drink “Love thy Neighbor.” You see, Mike, my husband and I met when I bought the house next door to him two years ago. Our theme was bohemian beach chic with a touch of hipster and plenty of sparkle and sunshine.
The Reception
After the ceremony we had cocktails in the tropical and lush Spa Island. This space is reminiscent of an old Copacabana-style resort front the 1950’s with oversized palms and glittery sand. We had dinner and flamenco dancing on the breezy beach and enjoyed vanilla cake topped with “Love thy Neighbor” messaging and a clay cake topper made to look like both of our houses.
Heidi’s Dress Search
This is my second wedding, so I was pretty set on a simple dress with an artistic flare. I was set on doing lace…I must have tried on 20+ lace dresses and finally, I ran across Vera Wang’s Hayden. I was captivated by its unique and unexpected asymmetrical construction, raw edges and interesting use of layers and pleats. It fit me in all of the right places yet was completely comfortable and light.
