With this inspiration shoot, we wanted to demonstrate ways to make an indoor wedding feel open and airy and give confidence to couples who want to play around with bold colors.
We created a perfect blend of an industrial modern backdrop and whimsical details with wildflowers that you’ll find driving around hills and meadows in Southern California.
Downtown San Diego’s Flora, the venue, offers a blank slate with lush greens that soften the industrial architecture. We were inspired by the indoor venue’s big, wide skylight and its floor-to-ceiling mirrors for the ceremony, which is why we went with big, natural aisle arrangements and ghost chairs. Once we were done with the ceremony set up, it felt as though we had brought the breezy fall meadows inside.
We invited a recently-wed, local couple to be a part of our inspiration shoot as models. We created a modern, simple and soft look for the bride to continue with the industrial, modern but whimsical theme. It was also meaningful for the bride model to be able to wear her traditional Vietnamese gown that she wore for her own wedding again. It was custom-made to replicate her mother’s wedding dress from the ‘80s, and the bold colors and hat went beautifully with our reception setup. She also wore a Sarah Seven dress that effortlessly complimented her delicate allure and contrasted her red evening gown, further illustrating ways to blend bold and wild with modern and clean.
