From Xènia, the Photographer:
Cabo de Gata is a paradise for the eye located in the south of the Peninsula Ibérica facing the Mediterranean Sea. Its situation of special isolation has allowed the exceptional preservation of this special natural enclave. When I first visited this spectacular area of Almeria, I fell in love with one special beach, La Playa del Arco. A wonderful place with black sand, white rock, and cliffs of rocks floating above the sea, and when I had the opportunity to go back to Almería lands, I knew I wanted to photograph a young couple in love there.
We picked them up at 4 o’clock in the morning to reach the location and prepare our lovers in the dark so that for the first rays of sun the beach would be ours alone. For this session, I was inspired by the location. I wanted to focus on the place and play with black and white as a minimalist element of inspiration. All this with a touch of Spanish aesthetics, with the spectacular canotier (hat) or the ruffles of the dress in layers. And for the second part of the session, I wanted to evoke the feeling of the vacation on this special place. The beach, the sun, the quietness, all looking for this same Spanish vibe with the swimwear ruffles and the hair style, a low bun, very typical for the festivities in the south lands of Spain. I wanted them to blend in with the surroundings, achieving an organic and chic result, without forgetting the southern roots.
