Colleen + Scott | Vera Wang Ethel Wedding from Red Gallery Photography
Colleen’s passion for fashion meant her vision was simple…splurge on the dress and all other wedding details will fall into place. Pretty gold accents, white linens and pink peonies galore, I love this look. And the couture feel of the tissue organza flange skirt of Colleen’s Vera Wang gown, Ethel pairs beautifully with the lushness of her peony bouquet. Just perfect.
The Ceremony We held the ceremony in a church; the ceremony was performed by a family member and included small things to make it special, such as my favorite songs when the bridesmaids and I walked down the aisle. I never thought I would have a traditional church wedding but I was able to add touches to make it personal.
The Reception The reception was held at a park, which overlooks the Little Miami River. I wanted a very simple wedding, all white linens with gold accents and pink peonies against the lush greens of the park. We tented the back half of the pavilion and added a chandelier for some extra glamor. The location was so beautiful I didn’t think much was needed to add to it.
Colleen’s Dress Search I am a fashion freak and placed the dress as my number one splurge item for the wedding; everything else from the flowers to the location was secondary. I researched for months, and looked at PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com to see how dresses looked at real events as opposed to runways. I ended up trying on over fifty dresses and visiting seven stores – I was on a mission! I had seen Vera Wang’s ‘Ethel’ on Pinterest and numerous weddings online and loved the glamorous mermaid style. When I tried it on, I was sold. Vera Wang is known for being a top wedding dress designer for a reason-her dress was a dream to wear.
How Colleen Felt in Her Wedding Dress Beautiful, Glamorous & Happy.
Why Colleen Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress I wanted someone else to enjoy the dress as much as I did-I couldn’t imagine just putting it away in a box forever. I know many women hope that their daughter will wear their dress someday, but if I ever have a daughter I am sure she will want a new dress like I did.
