Anne + KK | Vera Wang Wedding from Matt Lein Photography

Calling all fashionistas, this boutique wedding is an instant favorite complete with a couture Vera Wang gown called ‘Joelle’  in black + blush! This dress is totally unexpected, dreamy and sensual…I love that Anne wanted to express her love of fashion and sense of style in what she wore. Don’t miss the really playful photo shoot element of Anne + KK’s reception, the brides contrasting plush pink bouquet of roses, or my favorite: Anne’s description of how she felt in her wedding dress, ‘Gorgeous, sophisticated and fashion-forward”. I totally agree Anne! So good!

Anne + KK | September 29th, 2012 | Le Méridien Chambers Hotel, Minneapolis, MN

The Ceremony
Anne and KK connected over a love of fashion, music, great food, being active, and health/well-being.  Both come from tight-knit families; Anne is the oldest of three daughters, and KK is the youngest of four (and has a twin brother!)  Met through a mutual friend, who is now married to Anne’s sister.   The wedding took place on September 29th, 2012 at Le Méridien Chambers Hotel in downtown Minneapolis, a contemporary luxury boutique hotel with over 200 original pieces of modern art throughout guest rooms and public space.  Ceremony and cocktail hour were held in the outdoor at Le Méridien Chambers, which features vine-covered brick walls, cabanas, and an outdoor fireplace.

The Reception
Held in the indoor/outdoor rooftop bar of Le Méridien Chambers.  Floor to ceiling windows on three sides, two bars with modern chandeliers, and white leather lounge-style seating.  Decor included over 1,000 white pillar and votive candles.  Both cocktail hour and dinner included butler passed signature cocktails, wine, champagne and hors d’oeuvres for the entire night, as well as a full bar.  Late night butler passed snacks included mini burgers, french fries, mini corn dogs, mini ice cream cones, mini milk shakes, mini tacos, etc.

Anne’s Dress Search
I started my search looking for a fit and flare style gown.  I knew from the beginning that I didn’t want a gown that looked like everyone else’s gown – so many weddings are so similar and unmemorable!  I also knew I wanted to express my love of fashion and sense of style in what I wore.  I hadn’t even considered that a wedding gown could be anything other than white or ivory until I accidentally got a sneak-peak of Vera Wang‘s Fall 2012 look book. Her whole line was black & blush!  I immediately fell in love with the color pallet and the gorgeous fabrics, and I pretty quickly knew I wanted to try the Joelle gown.  The Vera Wang Fall 2013 line was not yet available in sample form, so I worked with the bridal salon to rush a sample from her runway show.  I knew right away after trying the gown that it was exactly what I wanted (and nothing like I thought I wanted!)  It was gorgeous, sophisticated, and showcased the unbelievable attention to detail and slight edge for which Vera Wang is known.  The Fall line wasn’t in production yet, so the salon wasn’t sure they could get the gown in time for my wedding.  But thanks to their hard work and the help of the Vera Wang team, they made it happen!  Vera Wang even created a custom black veil for me to wear with the gown!

Gorgeous, Sophisticated, Fashion-forward

Why Anne Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I love this gown so much, and I hate the idea of such an unbelievable piece of couture fashion being boxed up forever!  I know someone else will love and appreciate it as much as I do, and that makes me feel good.
