From the floral designer:
For this one-year anniversary celebration, our team faced the challenge of honoring a timeless, yet modern, Frank Lloyd Wright house located just east of San Francisco. Wright’s “Organic Architecture” approach emphasized natural materials while seeking harmony between design elements, people, and the surrounding environment. He pored over every detail using this philosophy – every window, beam, and piece of furniture (each of which is both an original work of art and comfortably functional). Wright’s bold design still feels contemporary because it was based on how people really lived.
Inspired by this wonderful house, our team sought to create an aesthetic that was well-designed, yet purposeful and personal. The photography captured our couple’s private, inward connection. Exquisitely minimalist clothing and tabletop accessories allowed our couple, and the home, to shine. The makeup and hair highlighted natural beauty done with a refined polish. The florals were a color story of subtle, muddy tones in pinks and yellows, used to connect to the home’s woody undertones. Finally, the complex vegan meal was simply gorgeous – and the perfect finishing touch.
The relaxed intimacy of Yising and Will as they commemorated their anniversary fit easily into the quietly spectacular estate. They are an attractive couple with refined sensibilities who have created an effortlessly charming life together in Oakland. Having just returned from a trip to Taiwan, this shoot was a beautiful welcome home.
