Amanda + Aaron | Vera Wang Wedding From Jillian Modern Photography

An elegant, beautiful wedding that was relaxed and truly fun. That’s just what Amanda and Aaron’s California wedding was. A breathtaking venue, gorgeous florals and an amazing Vera Wang gown together with a bride and groom who know how to kick back and have fun (like a late night taco truck and a packed dance floor). There’s lots of inspiration in this fabulous wedding!

Amanda + Aaron | April 28, 2012 | Bel Air Bay Club, Pacific Palisades California

The Ceremony
Aaron and I met in Los Angeles so we wanted to find a place which represented the LA we know and love.  We immediately fell in love with the Bel Air Bay Club with its striking panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean.  This was the perfect setting for a simple ceremony at sunset, and it would really allow our guests to take in the natural beauty of the moment and scenic views of the ocean.

The Reception
We envisioned an old California glam look.  When we discovered the Bel Air Bay Club, an old California Beach Club which had been built in the 1920s, we knew immediately that this venue had the history, Old California Spanish heritage and architecture, and beautiful ocean setting that we had envisioned for a glamorous, old-Hollywood inspired wedding. We loved the Spanish villa courtyard with its fountain, hanging lights and spanish tiles – it was an intimate outdoor setting for our guests to enjoy cocktail hour.  We loved the intimacy and old-world Spanish architecture of the indoor dining room.  Because it was a spring wedding, we chose romantic colors that are reminiscent of spring – muted pinks, blues, creams, peaches, and corals.  We had a guitarist and pianist play during cocktail hour and dinner.  The real party started after dinner, complete with a late night taco truck snack, glow in the dark headbands and sunglasses, 3 flavors of wedding cake for dessert, and a packed dance floor.

Amanda’s Wedding Dress Search
When I started my dress search, I was certain I would buy an all lace gown (Christos and Monique Lhuillier were my favorites).  While I tried on many lace gowns and they looked nice, none of them really turned heads.  No one ever said ‘wow’ until I tried on the Vera Wang Georgina Dress.  This was the dress that created that element of unexpected surprise and ‘wow’ factor.  The front looks was elegant, delicate with its lace bodice and clean lines (neckline, bodice).  The skirt and the back bustle gives the dress the dramatic and ethereal effect.

How She Felt In Her Wedding Dress
Dramatic, beautiful, stunning

Why She Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I adore this dress and am so sad to sell it.  It makes me think fondly of the best day of my life.  But the truth is, this dress is just too beautiful to sit in my closet.  I want to share this dress with other brides who want to turn heads on their wedding day.  This dress is for the bride who wants to look elegant, beautiful, delicate, yet stunning, ethereal and dramatic on her wedding day.  This dress deserves another day in the limelight.  Ladies, I promise you will not regret this dress!
