I have the most wonderful surprise in store for you today. I am so excited to welcome Rebecca of Duet Weddings as a new contributor on Once Wed. When I think of individuals who I consistently draw inspiration from, Rebecca is one of them and I’m thrilled she will be joining us every couple of months on Once Wed…
Most of my inspiration ultimately tends to begin with nature, and for this shoot in particular, I had dreams of a forest at dusk. I think there is something completely enchanting and alluring about the dark, untamed, forest wilderness. I wanted to harness this, and celebrate the power and natural elegance of nature while infusing it with a bit of opulence.
For the tabletops, the wildly talented Kate Holt created little works of floral art which she combined with woodsy elements- interesting mosses, lichen, bark (some of which had these fabulous little mushrooms growing!) all housed within vintage jewelry boxes and antique horn vases. We incorporated wild bird feathers (guinea, wild turkey, pheasant,) snail shells and natural chunk honey for a beautiful amber color that we wanted to incorporate.
Erica O’brien made the most perfect little cake- a subtle faux bois pattern with a bit of a silvery finish (to evoke weathered wood) and the most delicately shaped guinea feather and tiny nest were the finishing touches.
Stay tuned for Part II of this beautiful story coming up next!
