Margarethe and Will kept it nostalgic and were married in the bride’s hometown. This winter wedding took Christmas to glamorous new levels, combining shades of emerald green, gold and vibrant red into the centrepieces and tablescapes in a classic ballroom setting. Adding to the sophistication, the bridesmaids wore long black gowns and the gents were in tuxes. We love Margarethe’s Vera Wang Kathleen gown, too. Understated and elegant, with just a touch of glitz.

The Ceremony
Our ceremony was in the beautiful Christ Church in Short Hills. I grew up going to this church so it felt like home. It is a beautiful stone church built in 1882. The aisle was flanked by overhead candles, with green wreaths and poinsettias at the altar, along with lit evergreen trees that gave nods to Christmas being close. Our bridesmaids and groomsmen were in elegant black tie formal wear with trains and bow ties. They looked fantastic.
The Reception
Our reception was held at the nearby Maplewood Country Club. It has one of the most beautiful ballrooms that is authentically grand but surrounded by smaller rooms that remind you that the club used to be a private residence. Their rich wood wainscoting is a lovely detail and we loved the back balcony that looks over the golf course. On the living room fireplace mantle we displayed family pictures from the weddings of our parents and grandparents. Somehow we worked through the cold weather for our portraits. It was so worth it because the natural light and backdrop could not have been any better.
