“There are so many reasons to love La Serenissima from the glorious architecture lining the banks of the Grand Canal, to the unmistakably beautiful water paths, and the priceless marbled palaces. Yet to us as creatives, this dramatic large-scale city is a canvas that combines a love for attenuated proportion, a sensuous delight in haute couture, and pulsating energy that keeps a couple on the move, as though living in this magical destination is a never-ending theatrical play. Drawing inspiration from Shakespearean beauties whose portraits reflect the opulence and romance of the age, we wished to create an era-evoking, yet contemporary elegant editorial that would have a lasting effect on the grand manner fashion, fine art, and painterly light blend.
We sided with wedding designer Majenia whose full-blown sense of style was just perfect for this shoot, and we set off for Gritti Palace. Its intimate and delectable feel that finds favor with elite visitors had captured our imagination right from the start. We were so excited to be ensconced in the Somerset Maugham Royal Suite soaked in early 20th century fabrics, Murano glass chandeliers, and perfect light soon as its floor-to-ceiling French doors opened to the most majestic view.
By aligning fashion, interiors, fragrances, and sumptuous textures we sought to promote not only the beauty of a bride but her lifestyle at the current moment. A boudoir collection of images is so much more than ribbons and trims. We saw it more like our bride’s early morning ritual. Silent Word’s stationery suites – a nod to our venue’s palpable charm- were paired to antique details, wax seals and silverware, as well as the bride’s heirloom Bijoux from So Hélo. For the stunning wedding bouquet, Fioreria San Rocco created a synthesis made of garden roses, tulips and hypericums, a perfect match to our Riki Dalal Lady McBeth gown from Belle en Blanc. We were smitten with the butter-soft tulle train and elegant, detailed lacing which we perfectly and purposely arranged to enhance the beauty of our bride’s movement.
Aching for more we followed Aisha to Saint Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace a proof that her majesty “The Calmest” is a brilliant decorative artist by itself!”
