Real Wedding | Raegen & Morgan

There are so many personalized details about this wedding that make it truly unique.  But the one that I keep going back to is the dress.  Raegan took a Melissa Sweet Lia and made it her own.  Honestly, I bet if the designers saw that strap, they would make it a permanent option.  And that jacket….I don’t know how she knew it would work -but the look is absolutely amazing.

Raegen & Morgan | August 7, 2009

How he proposed

He took me to our favorite weekend bunch spot and I noticed his palms seemed unusually sweaty that morning. He got down on one knee and earned us a free breakfast by asking for my hand. Since then we never have trouble getting a table!

The ceremony
Intimate and nontraditional but not lacking in sentimentality.

The moment Raegen will never forget
When Morgan got so choked up in the ceremony he couldn’t get any words out. Finally the officiant had to just move on. We joke now that he really didn’t promise me anything!

The reception
Two long tables of our closest friends and family who entertained us with hours of speeches and jokes. We had a BBQ style buffet and 5 small artfully decorated cakes on all the tables. It was very casual and sweet. Afterwards we danced to the music of a local jazz duet.

The wedding theme
No theme, just whatever we liked. We tried to add personal details wherever possible. Morgan created table runners and I did the flower arrangements the day of. Being an apparel designer I wanted to contribute something to my dress so I added detachable straps to change my look for the ceremony and also made myself a jacket that I plan to keep. My brother in law played the piano as we walked down the aisle, and my sister designed our wedding invites.

The dress search
I probably tried on 50 dresses. I finally settled on the Lia when I put it on and felt like it had the right mix of simplicity and glamour. I was concerned when the boutique I was buying it from told me they couldn’t get it in for 6 months. I was thrilled when I found the dress on the pre-owned wedding dress site and could buy it and have it immediately, and at a much better price! Now I hope to pass it on to another lucky bride.

Raegen advice for other brides
Don’t get caught up in tradition. Figure out what is important to you and your husband and focus on making those things special. Try to stay relaxed and enjoy it!
