Milk + Honey Table

I am so excited about today’s table-scape feature on Once Wed. Paige of Bash Eco Events and Kelly of Yes Please Design are two of the coolest and most innovative ladies I’ve been fortunate to come across in the blogging world, so I’m absolutely thrilled they both will be joining us twice a month with a brand new project based on a famous couple starting today. John and Yoko met at an art opening in London in 1966 where Yoko’s piece “Hammer A Nail” was on display. Yoko refused to let John hammer in a nail because the show wasn’t officially opening till the next day. They began their love affair quickly after their meeting and were married in 1969. Their romance spawned numerous love songs, and they became famous for their peace activism, including their public love-in. One of their more eccentric albums together was titled “Milk + Honey”. Our color palette is a directly influenced by a “peaceful milk + honey” serenity mixed with artistic urbanity. John and Yoko epitomized the ideal abundant life of love, music, art, community, and progressive sophistication which plays into the textures and ideas behind this wedding shoot. Our bride is looking for an eclectic, yet sophisticated take on artistic ingenuity and proper individuality when showcasing her wedding style.

Our head table background is a white on white painted Chevron pattern with a mix of gold tone hammers and nails, milky ropes , fawn and honey colored ribbons, wispy strips of golden tulle, gold rick-rack, natural twine, and glass orbs filled with sugar cubes and wheat grains. The perfect blend of feminine textures, avant garde utilitarianism, and earthy details.

The table scape is moody vintage meets modern happily ever after, a perfect juxtaposition that embodied John and Yoko. Old jeans and untamed hair yet driving a white rolls royce. Ghost chairs are divinely invisible allowing the textures of the design to be the showcase. Ivory burlap draped across the table brings in the feel of bohemian simplicity. Gold rimmed champagne glasses from a flea market filled with peace and love cookie favors (Bittersweet Treats), mod-white square dinnerware from England, and vintage gold flatware make up the varied place settings.

Different hues of gold painted wine and water bottles mixed in with the transparency of the clear are the perfect shaped candle holders. White milk glass containers house perfectly happy florals of queen anne’s lace, paperwhites, tulips, daisies, monte casino, ornithogalum arabicum, and jade green trachyllium from succulentLove. DIY elements include paint your own wine bottles + hammer + nails, create mix CDs of your favorite love songs with gocco’d covers, hammer & nail place cards (spray paint blocks of wood, stamp your guests’ names on a piece of kraft paper and attach with a gold spray painted nail. Dress it up with a bit of ribbon or tulle)
