Intimate Bridal Portraits from Loom Curated

At Once Wed, we’re dedicated to continuing education and craft development; therefore, we’re honored this week to feature two shoots from the recent Loom Curated workshop in the Catskills. We celebrate the Loom experience because of its focus on authenticity and artistic expansion and also because it is lead by some of the most inspiring creatives out there who are dedicated to growing their skills and sharing their knowledge with others. Read on for more about this wonderful series.

Loom is a practical teaching platform for photographers that encourages authentic documentation of the human condition. Ginny Au, the Creative Director and Owner of Loom, started her career as a designer and stylist and found that by manipulating a scene for the sole purpose of beauty, the authenticity and memory of a moment was lost. She began to seek a method that communicated not just what her clients looked like but encouraged a true representation of how they felt. She then begun to apply this technique to editorial shoots, lifestyle campaigns, lectures, and the Loom Series.

The Loom Series is a worldwide teaching platform for photographers. Twice a year we welcome photographers to our chosen venues for educational lectures, observations, shoots, and camaraderie. In small groups, the attendees are brought into curated environments with the sole purpose of documenting the story as it unfolds. By storyboarding each shoot in advance and allowing the natural relationships of the subjects to shine through, Ginny enables the photographer to focus on the subtleties in life we often overlook.

This intimate shoot from our Catskills series documented the emotional beauty of a bride readying for her wedding day. The environment that Ginny and her team created (which featured elements to stimulate all the senses of the photographers) and the stunning work of model Meredith Adelaide, left all attendees in awe. A special magic poured from this room, and Erich McVey captured every detail perfectly.
