I have to admit I get a little burn out on weddings sometimes. Don’t get me wrong. I absolutely love my job and feel incredibly blessed to wake up every morning and write Once Wed, but staying on top of 600+ blogs a day can occasionally leave you a little worn out visually. Thankfully, when I have the opportunity to feature a wedding like Denise and Jasper’s…it reminds me why I love weddings so much. Their wedding was such a breath of fresh air for me and I’m so excited about the opportunity to share their rad celebration with you today on Once Wed…
I’m an interior designer and Jasper, my husband, is a photographer so it was very important to us that our wedding be a reflection of us – a wedding that wasn’t formal, stuffy or overly traditional but was filled with love, joy and, of course, handmade details. Although we live and work in San Francisco, we decided to have our wedding at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs. We wanted a celebration inspired by the desert, photography and sixties/seventies bohemian California.
We made our invitations, an elaborate package of formal invite, photographs Jasper took of Palm Springs during our visits there, a CD for the road trip out there and a Tom Robbins quote we felt summed up our relationship; we put the entire collection inside of felt pockets my father sewed and topped it off with a feather. I scoured eBay for vintage 60s/70s stamps, even finding a photography stamp.
Stay tuned for so much more coming up next!
