Chelsea and Chris’ summer engagement session in Huntington Beach included things they love – the outdoors and a vintage Ford that’s an important part of Chelsea’s family history. Amanda Patrice captured their awesome sunset session!
A summer vintage Ford engagement session in Huntington Beach, CA
Chris and I met three and a half years ago at a New Year’s Eve party. We celebrated with a New Year’s kiss and felt such an instant connection that we have been together ever since. We both love being outdoors, so when we first started dating we would go on a lot of hikes so we could get to know one another away from everything. As the years went by we went on many hikes and would talk about getting married and having kids and all those other great adventures we wanted to take with one another. It was on one of our biggest adventures (Christmas in Maui!) that Chris proposed. We knew once we were engaged that this idea of traveling and adventuring had to play a role in both our engagement photos and our wedding. One of our favorite hikes is a local one on the backside of the bay in our home town of Huntington Beach. Close by is a local spot called “Make out Point.” Seemed only fitting.
Once we had a perfect location we wanted to create a shoot that captured our mutual love for all things vintage. Both lovers of history, adventures, and the great outdoors, we wanted our photos to reflect those key things that we love. The old Ford in the photos is very special to me. My mom bought it when she was pregnant with me and dubbed it “The Blue.” It has been part of the family ever since and I even picked Chris up in it on one of our first dates. At the photo shoot, with The Blue’s top down, we watched the sunset at Make Out Point. It felt like an old film about two people riding away into the sunset after their big adventure… that’s the way I like to think of it anyways. – Chelsea
