Katelin and John’s chic L.A. engagement session took place in three parts: at The Huntley Hotel, El Matador Beach and Griffith Observatory! They first professed their love to one another at the luxurious Santa Monica hotel, and two years later he proposed to her there, so it only made sense that the first part of their shoot with Shelly Anderson Photography would be at the hotel’s sophisticated penthouse restaurant overlooking the city. After, the adorable couple spent time at the beach and watching the city’s hustle and bustle through the telescope at the Observatory.
A chic and sophisticated three-part L.A. engagement session
This hotel holds many memories for both Katelin and John, and over time it signified their relationship. When John decided it was time to propose, he knew it would be at The Huntley, and he left no detail behind. First, the ring. Katelin’s father is a goldsmith, so John teamed up with him to secretly design the perfect setting. While the ring was in production, he asked the great team at the Huntley for some extra help in organizing the perfect night. He reserved the same room that they first stayed in awhile back, #913. While Katelin was upstairs in the Penthouse for “dinner with her sister”… John was setting up roses and candles, and laying out a new black dress and gold heels for Katelin to change into to greet all of their guests who were hiding downstairs in the lobby, waiting for the OK to head up to the rooftop bar to surprise them!
Not expecting anything out of the ordinary to happen, Katelin’s mother comes out of nowhere to deliver a room key. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE, MOM!?” Katelin put two and two together and realized as she was walking down the hallway to room #913 her life would change forever! She said YES!! – Shelly Anderson Photography
