Brandi Reiland | Soiree: One of our first steps when designing a wedding is to start looking at paper- textures, patterns, and eclectic designs. We love paper because using it in your wedding really can take it from pretty to amazing; And by mixing and matching coordinating colors and styles you actually create a very cool continuity throughout your party that will keep your guests’ eyes roaming and engaged. And the bonus? Using paper uses more creativity than it does money- perfect if you’re trying hard to stick to a budget.

Wrap vases in patterned designs, or cut a thick band of wrapping paper for your menu cards. Choose 3-4 different patterns of thick paper to create interesting and chic escort or place cards. Experiment with different textures- use mulberry paper for a more natural or even Asian theme, or watermarked “lace” papers for a classic theme. Use old book pages or music sheets for a vintage, shabby chic feel. And feel free to include other paper-like items too, like ribbon- the more ribbon the better! The trick to designing with paper is to not be afraid to mix and match patterns- as long as the colors mesh well together and the overall styles resemble each other, you’ve got a truly personalized and eclectic theme happening.

Places like Paper Mart offer bulk ribbon and tissue paper in a variety of colors and sizes too, and at wholesale pricing to boot.
