You can almost smell the fresh mountain air when looking at the photos of Sarah and Jon’s Vail wedding. Although the spring weather wasn’t what they had hoped for their outdoor ceremony, a post-snow walk through the woods captured the romance of the forest for their wedding portraits. Didn’t Sarah’s lace Ulla-Maija wedding gown look absolutely stunning in the natural setting? A perfect choice!
The Ceremony We hoped to have our ceremony outside, but knew it was a gamble in early May in the Rockies. Sure enough, it rained and snowed all weekend, and we were so relieved we had the weather backup! Our ceremony was in a ballroom at the Vail Marriott Mountain Resort and Spa and it was gorgeous. We had an Aspen tree chuppah (courtesy of Vintage Magnolia) and the staff at the Marriott made the ballroom a spectacular setting, second only to being outdoors mountainside!
The Reception Our reception was at the Donovan Pavilion in Vail, which is a stunning building owned and operated by the Town of Vail. Our reception was understated, with minimal flowers and tons of tea lights for natural lighting. The gorgeous architecture of the Donovan Pavilion doesn’t need any dressing up at all!
Sarah’s Dress Search I tried on maybe a dozen dresses at three different shops, and the Ulla-Maja Lyon was perfect from the moment I tried it on. The way the dress hung on me – so weightlessly and naturally – and the way I felt comfortable and un-constricted in it made it the perfect pick for me.
How Sarah Felt in Her Wedding Dress Elegant. Classic. Comfortable.
Why Sarah Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress I loved the dress and realized that it would bring more joy to another bride than it could ever generate sitting in a closet. I wish I had been one of the savvy brides out there who are considering a pre-owned wedding dress, knowing what an amazing deal they can get for the dress of their dreams!
