This Texas wedding is both casual and elegant at the same time. The warm and welcoming feel, coupled with an intimate guest list of 100, made Shanna and J.D.’s wedding exactly what they wanted.
Shanna and J.D., Amarillo, Texas, October 3, 2009
What you did on your first date
Hitting golf balls at a driving range and pizza dinner
How you knew he was the one
I knew he was the one when he brought me a pink collar for my chocolate labrador on our third date. I had complained that everyone thought she was a boy so it was a perfect gift! It showed me how thoughtful and romantic he was.
The ceremony
With the leaves changing colors in the background, we said our vows under a floral archway on the Kritser Ranch in Amarillo, Texas with a family friend officiating. With only 100 guests, the ceremony was simple, romantic, and unforgettable.
The reception
Guests headed across the ranch after the ceremony to enjoy dinner and dancing under the fall sky. The reception was intimate and everyone had an amazing time.
The moment Shanna will never forget
When my new husband picked up the microphone and sang “Amarillo by Morning” to our guests
The wedding theme
We wanted a western theme without being “overly Western.” We used mason jars for our flower vases, recycled wine bottles as water bottles on the tables, and hay bails as cocktail tables. We also had some of the cowboys from the ranch escort cars as they came in the entrance to the ranch.
