Real Wedding | Sarah + Ethan

City chic and modern style…I absolutely love the bold look of this Manhattan wedding! Check out the fun and flirty bridesmaid’s dresses…strapless, short, and belted at the waist, with the perfect pop of color found in the bright bouquets they carried. Sarah looked simply amazing in her gorgeous Oscar De La Renta gown. The white lace fabric is divine, and the black sash at the waist gave it a unique and modern feel. If you’ve been dreaming of a big city celebration filled with elegant touches, you will love today’s Real Wedding. Enjoy!

Sarah + Ethan | May 19, 2012 | New York City

The ceremony

Both our ceremony and reception were held at the Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers in Manhattan.  We had a Jewish ceremony, held at sunset and overlooking the water by floor to ceiling windows.  I really loved our ceremony – it was full of personal and sentimental touches.  Ethan made our chuppah with my father and his father, and we used a textile hand-crocheted by my great-grandmother for the chuppah covering.

The reception

For our reception, we wanted to have a modern New York City feel.  The Lighthouse is a gorgeous loft space with fully retractable glass windows, which was perfect for us.  We used a lot of black and white to create a urban chic look, but had beautiful flowers and hanging votive candles to create some romance.

How Sarah found her dream wedding dress

I really had no idea what I was looking for in my wedding dress.  I had tried on a lot of dresses and hadn’t even considered the idea of lace. I tried on this dress on a whim, only to completely fall in love with it.  The lines are simple but so elegant and the lace is feminine and romantic – it was a perfect balance.

Beautiful, feminine and special

Why Sarah decided to sell her wedding dress

I loved wearing my wedding dress – it made me feel so beautiful and special.  It seems such a waste to leave this beautiful dress sitting in a box in a closet and I would really love for another bride to feel truly amazing in this dress!
