Megan and Ross’ vintage-eclectic wedding is equal parts fashionable folks and whimsical collectables…combining gnomes, globes, old books & film reels is a very nifty way to decorate for this San Diego celebration. I love that everyone who attended this wedding looks super hip and each one of the guest place cards is a piece of art unto itself (handmade by the bride, I might add). Don’t miss the detailing on Megan’s Jenny Packham gown or Ross looking pretty boss in his tux – not sure what this couple wears on a daily basis, but it’s safe to say these two were made for their wedding wardrobe. Cheers!
Megan + Ross | June 4, 2011 | The Prado Balboa Park, San Diego, California
The Ceremony
Our ceremony was on a perfect June summer evening at 6 pm without a cloud in the sky. It was eclectic and unique with a very fun and laid back feel for 150 of our closest family and friends. We decorated the altar with a vintage globe and for the ceremony décor we had a gnome, vintage vases, old film reels and birdcages. For flowers, we had chocolate cosmos, black dahlias, white hydrangea, woody kiwi vine and moss, moss, moss! The bouquets were very detailed with a vintage skeleton key to add the final touch. Our flower girls carried antique silver bells hung from jute twine.
The Reception
The reception was held in the Prado Balboa Park ballroom and was full of character and whimsical odds and ends like, a vintage ‘Big Bear’ arrow sign, religious statues, vintage dictionaries and books, old soda bottles and vintage face bottle openers, more film canisters and reels. The name cards were displayed around a wooded Buddha from our personal home collection. The cards were hand made by the bride. The cake was red velvet with cream cheese frosting dressed with flowers and a vintage horseshoe. Guests dined on pressed spinach salad, glazed salmon, chicken, prime rib carving station and a late night taco cart, cocktails, beer and wine. The reception was one big party and everyone danced the night away! A crazy photo booth was another added element to all the fun!!!
Megan’s Dress Search
I knew I didn’t want something poofy, princessy or something that screamed bridezilla!! I wanted something with a vintage edge to it. I ended up finding exactly what I was looking for.
How Megan Felt in Her Wedding Dress
I felt sexy, classic and unique.
Why Megan Decided To Sell Her Wedding Dress
I wouldn’t sell this dress if I felt I would ever wear it again, but I won’t…so why not give someone else the opportunity to enjoy it? I will say this: I know you are complimented a lot on your wedding day, but never have I had so many people still to this day compliment me on how beautiful this dress is. When my photographer saw me in it for the first time his response was, ‘That dress is legit.’ I love that and it makes me smile even now.
