Martine and Erik invited family and friends to beautiful Mallorca, Spain to spend quality time together while celebrating their marriage. I love, love, love Martine’s choice of a wedding gown. The knee-length dress seems especially fitting for a destination wedding. She looked so sophisticated and timeless…reminding me of the always elegant Grace Kelly. Congratulations to this lovely and spirited couple.

The ceremony
We had the ceremony outside in the gardens of the reception venue, Son Berga, a pre-16th century farm house set in the mountains and orange groves. The backdrop to our ceremony was a beautiful mountain scene – so pretty! We had a jazz band playing as the guests arrived, but when my dad and I walked down the isle (and as Erik & I left) we played the Beatles Song, “All you Need is Love”. It was so much fun!
The reception
From the moment the guests arrived we had them travel through different locations of the venue. They started with drinks in a lovely cobbled courtyard, then moved onto the ceremony in the garden, then we had cocktails and canapes in another courtyard shaded by a big tree. Here we had the jazz band playing again and displays of old family photos for the guests to see – I also put together a display of old family wedding photos – including parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles. The cocktails were followed by dinner inside one of the old farm buildings – we had a fantastic sit down dinner.
After dinner we had the guests move to another outdoor court yard that had been set up with sofas, tables, candles etc for the party. We had an instant camera photo booth with wigs and silly glasses which created a lot of fun and a hysterical guest book (I cried when I read it), we also had jars of sweets for what we call ‘pick n’ mix’. We danced and partied until 2am and eventually we got kicked out as the coaches were waiting to take us home.

I would never make my daughter wear what I chose for me (I think its important to choose what is right for you). So whilst I’d love to keep it just to look at it again in 10,20,30 years it seems so wasteful. I really want someone else to enjoy it – beautiful things shouldn’t just be worn once!
