Real Wedding | Kimberley + Brett

There’s a picture taken of the bride and groom having just tied the knot and dancing down the aisle that perfectly sum’s up how I feel about Kimberley + Brett’s wedding.  Today’s featured wedding is fun, lighthearted, traditional with a touch of whimsy.  I love the hints of the unexpected blended into Kimberley + Brett’s traditional wedding: dancing their way out of their church ceremony; bowls of fish as centerpieces at the reception and jelly beans as party favors! And my absolute favorite part about this wedding: from head to toe the bride and groom look super fashionable. Brett’s black bow-tie with matching grey vest and pants (sans- jacket) is fresh and unexpected and completely compliments Kimberley’s outstanding Vera Wang gown and all of her gorgeous perfectly tousled wavy hair.

The Ceremony
It was a beautiful sunny day we couldn’t have asked for weather more perfect. We had quite a big ceremony of family and friends who all came along to be a part of and support us on our big day. The ceremony was in a traditional church with an aisle that felt like it went for miles! We had a band from our home church play our song “Never Let Go” by the David Crower Band as I walked down the aisle. It was a very joyous and emotional ceremony with our own vows; selected bible verses that had significance to us both; and our own family pastor officiated the service. We had 5 groomsmen and 5 bridesmaids as well as Brett’s 2 little cousins who were 5&6 as our flower girl and pageboy. When we kissed and were announced husband and wife, we walked out to the song “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows” by Lesley Gore!  It definitely added a fun, lighthearted feel to the atmosphere.

The Reception
We had a very fun and relaxed daytime reception with a 3-course meal at a golf course with beautiful scenic views. The reception included all the traditional speeches, first dance and bouquet throwing and cake cutting. We also had some fun games in which the audience was able to participate in to get a better look into who we are as a couple. We had a purple color theme and instead of the traditional flower arrangement on the tables we choose to have fish! The fish were a fun and lively way to grab our friends and families attention and a great source of entertainment for the kids!  Our favors were also a little bit different; we gave our guests boxes filled with little jelly belly, jellybeans. They made for a great treat and everyone took them home at the end of the reception. Our reception catered to our closest family and friends and was really a magnificent day of fun, love and celebration!

Three Words to Describe How Kimberley Felt in Her Wedding Dress
Every girls dream!

Why Kimberley Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I must admit it was a really hard decision to make. But I had to look at the bigger picture and be realistic. By the time my (future) daughter gets married, my dress will be out of fashion and she’ll probably want something completely different to my taste. I know that was the case when my mum pulled out her puffy sleeved, lace, tea length dress from the 80’s!  Secondly, I felt that my dress would probably sit in a box, collect dust and come out at my 50th wedding anniversary when I cry that I can’t fit into it anymore! So it’s better for someone else to enjoy the life of this dress and truly have the best wedding day because they know that they are wearing the dress of their dreams.
