Today’s feature is a destination wedding that feels right at home. Katie’s parents spend most of their time in Park City, Utah. So, the amazing scenery and laid-back attitude at this popular vacation spot made it the perfect fit for an intimate and joyful celebration. I love the charming and non-traditional reception where guests enjoyed cocktails in the lobby/bar, and a sit down meal in the restaurant of an elegant local hotel. Don’t miss the looks on the faces of both the bride and groom post-ceremony…their ear-to-ear smiles tell you everything you need to know about the love they share. Enjoy!

The ceremony
When we were planning our wedding, Will (a Southern boy) and I (a Midwestern girl) decided on a destination wedding in Park City, Utah, although it wasn’t entirely a destination for my family. My parents live there most of the year and, as a result, we were able to host family and friends at my parents’ home, including a cook-out a few days before. It was great! We had a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Mary’s, a beautiful church at the base of a gorgeous green and granite mountain.
Our reception was elegant and untraditional. We had drinks and appetizers in the lobby and bar area of the Waldorf Astoria and then dinner in the hotel’s restaurant. It was so cozy and romantic and not quite the ordinary, just like the two of us.
How Katie found her dream wedding dress
I originally thought I would go with something simple, something with lace and no tulle or chiffon. And I ended up with something quite opposite. I felt in love with the natural waist and sweetheart neckline. It was such a comfortable dress and so effortlessly beautiful. I was lucky to be able to wear it!
The way Katie felt in her wedding dress
I felt like Grace Kelly!
Why Katie decided to sell her wedding dress
I have such wonderful memories and now I want to provide someone else the opportunity to wear the dress and have just as wonderful memories as well.
