Real Wedding | Kate + Jonathan

Kate’s wedding was a lovely mix of old and new. A traditional Jewish ceremony held in a stunning historic synagogue kicked off an evening of celebration. Following the ceremony, party planners took a modern event space back in time by turning it into an elegant “Rat Pack” inspired party scene. The complete joy exuded by this beautiful couple was contagious…and friends and family danced the night away with the new Mr. & Mrs.

The ceremony

We were married at Congregation Rodeph Shalom, a synagogue in my hometown of Philadelphia. We used minimal decor and flowers, instead letting the Byzantine-style space speak for itself. We also opted not to have a traditional bridal party, and included our immediate family with us under the chuppah as we said our vows, while some of our married friends did readings for us during the ceremony, to start us out on the right foot. As we exited the synagogue to head to the party, we were greeted by all of our guests holding lit sparklers.

The reception

Immediately following the ceremony was our Saturday night, Black-tie, Winter Wedding at Peche at Sherman Mills, a former textile mill turned event space. We used a palette of white with black accents, topiaries, and lots of personal details to turn the loft-like space into a Rat Pack-inspired, all out PARTY.

How Kate felt in her wedding dress

I felt gorgeous, sparkling, and like I fit the mood of the party!

Why Kate decided to sell her wedding dress

I always planned on selling my dress, because I am not a very sentimental person (and we live in a pretty small apartment!).  After the wedding, I definitely wanted to pass it on to someone else because it was simply so amazing, and having it hang in my closet and not be enjoyed by another bride would be such a waste!
