Real Wedding | Jennifer + Travone

Unique and creative…just like Jennifer herself. This wedding was a gorgeous celebration of family and friends, with lots of DIY touches to make it special. Jennifer’s “peacock” theme was carried throughout the ceremony and reception.  Don’t miss the awesome peacock clutch purses she designed for her bridesmaids or her amazingly beautiful brooch bouquet. Congratulations to this happy (and stylish!) couple.

The ceremony

My husband and I both knew we wanted to be married in a traditional church ceremony. We did change things up a bit by writing our own vows, our children performed readings, and my “crafts” were present as well. My best friend is a man, and therefore I had a Man of Honor, who was more amazing than anyone could wish for. To cut costs we made the groomsmen boutonnieres and I also made clutches for my bridesmaids to carry instead of bouquets. Our phenomenal seamstress made a replica of my dress for our daughter to wear as the flower girl, and I chose feather pads to have added to my bridesmaid dresses. The program design was purchased on Etsy. I made the tears of joy tissue holders as well as the flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow. Our peacock theme was carried throughout the ceremony into the reception.

The reception

Our wedding was a true labor of love. Over the course of a year and a half, countless hours were spent on centerpieces, favors, and decorations.  The food was delicious, my venue allowed me to not only completely redesign their menu but supply recipes. My husband single handedly built our photo prop wall and cupcake stand. My favorite memory will be his performance (before removing my garter) lip-syncing Lenny Williams “Because I Love You”.

How Jennifer felt in her wedding dress

I felt amazing, breath taking and surreal in my dress, walking down the aisle to my husband was like a dream. I was fortunate to be able to utilize the fabric from alternations to wrap my brooch bouquet and make my hairpiece, everything came together so beautifully.  I chose this dress with my daughters and step-daughters in mind, my hope is that one day it’s classic enough to be worn again by one of our five girls.

How Jennifer found her dream wedding dress

Actually I bought my wedding dress from PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com.  My husband originally told me I could purchase whatever dress I wanted. Well, after shopping trip number four out of state, I was finally down to two dresses: a beautiful Justin Alexander that gave me an amazing figure, and a very mermaid Mikaella. When I told my husband the costs he fell out of his chair! That night I went on the site and sure enough one of my dresses was for sale IN MY SIZE! I knew it was meant to be.  I bought it, and my man of honor drove 4.5 hours to pick it up, saving us almost $1000.
