Real Wedding | Heather + Geoff

Ceremony and reception at the Shelter Harbor Inn…nuptials under an old tree surrounded by loved one’s and a special K9 too…This lovely sense of whimsy is perfectly apparent throughout Heather + Geoff’s special day.  I love this couple’s wardrobe as it really sets the tone.  Heather looks gorgeous, yet relaxed and the structure and detailing of her J.Crew gown has just a touch of vintage!  Equally textured and interesting is the pairing of Geoff’s finely checked button-down shirt with tie, navy jacket and grey slacks.  Put it all together and Heather and Geoff have captured, classic and elegant Rhode Island romance at it’s finest.  Cheers!

The Ceremony
Geoff and I chose the Shelter Harbor Inn in Westerly, Rhode Island because it was everything we were looking for in a ceremony and reception location and it was a special place that we loved. Shelter Harbor Inn is a spot we stay at each year in the winter. Every time we go there we enjoy the food, the innkeeper and the beautiful property more and more. We were looking for a venue where we could hold the ceremony and reception in the same spot. Shelter Harbor Inn has the most beautiful, old tree on its property and we were married right under it.

The Reception
The reception was held in a beautiful white tent as the sun was setting over the nearby beach. Our cocktail hour included a hot pretzel bar with a variety of dips. Dancing started early and ended late. One of the best parts of the reception that everyone loved was the photo booth. Our best man and maid of honor gave such heartfelt toasts that many had tears in their eyes. Some of them may have been from our guests laughing to the point of tears as the best man described the night we met.  We served a variety of cupcakes for dessert in lieu of a wedding cake. Everyone got to sample a few different flavors. We found the perfect setting for a night of amazing food and dancing under the stars for 80 of our closest friends and family.

How Heather Felt in Her Wedding Dress
I was never the kind of person who spent months or years dreaming of my wedding dress. So, when it came time to try on dresses I was open to any and everything. I tried lace and silk, ball gown and form fitting, sweetheart and halter. Hey, there was only one chance in my life that I could try on every style without questions! I love the dress I chose, I felt absolutely beautiful, whimsical, and stunning!

Why Heather Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I decided to sell the dress because, for me, it will only be worn once. I would love for another bride to enjoy the beauty of the dress, all the amazing details and the fun pockets as much as I did.
