Real Wedding | Hannah + Eric

Here is a lovely spring wedding that comes to us from California that took place at the original Nixon family home.  As Hannah explains, their wedding was traditional with a twist...nixing the full suit, the groomsmen wore cardigans, the mothers wore traditional Korean silk dresses and the ceremony reading was from the Velveteen Rabbit.  This wedding is elegant and tasteful and I am in love with Hannah’s up-do.  The subtle placement of flowers in her hair is the perfect nod to their gorgeous rose garden ceremony.  Enjoy!

Hannah + Eric | April 7, 2012 | Richard Nixon Library, Yorba Linda, CA

The Ceremony
The ceremony was held outdoors in the rose garden with the original Nixon home in the background. It was a mostly traditional ceremony with a few twists. The groomsmen wore cardigans, the reading was from The Velveteen Rabbit, and the mothers wore traditional Korean silk dresses.

The Reception
The reception was held in the East Ballroom at the Nixon Library – a replica of the East Ballroom in the White House. The couple kicked off the reception with a quickstep first dance to the Plain White T’s Rhythm of Love.

Hannah’s Dress Search
I started with a White by Vera Wang design from David’s Bridal – what a steal. But the dress, as beautiful as it was, was not right for our wedding. I loved the concept of it and bought it without thinking about how it would fit into our wedding. I ended up thinking that it would be too much for an outdoor ceremony and the casual details that we wanted. So… I had to go shopping again and I actually sold that first dress. I was reluctant to try on my gown because it seemed too form fitting, but my consultant practically forced me into it and it was love at first sight. This is why you listen to the professionals. It was amazing!

Why Hannah Decided To Sell Her Wedding Dress
I tried to buy a used dress myself, but it was difficult to find the exact dress that I wanted in the right size. Hopefully, this will help a bride who is similar sized to me to make her wedding day picture perfect.
