Dramatic and exquisite…I love, love, love this modern wedding! Emily’s desire for a structured designer gown made a real statement, and set the tone for this chic celebration. Get ready to swoon over all the little details…and the big ones too, like the amazing artwork at the Art Institute of Chicago, where the ceremony and reception took place. No doubt this one of a kind celebration had guests talking and taking note. If you’re a bride who dreams big, you’re sure to fall in love with today’s Real Wedding. Enjoy!

The ceremony
Our ceremony was held in Griffin Court at the Modern Wing of the Art Institute of Chicago. It, like the rest of our wedding, was very contemporary and emphasized the bright light and amazing art of the space.
Our reception was also at the Modern Wing, with the cocktail hour at Bluhm Terrace and the rest of the reception at Terzo Piano restaurant. Clean lines, crisp colors and of course, great music created the vibe of our reception. The “Restless Rainbow” art installation was the focal point and a great conversation piece for our cocktail hour.
How Emily found her dream wedding dress
I knew I wanted my dress to be very contemporary and hopefully architectural in style. I ruled out any style with lace and beading right away which narrowed down my pool of options by about 90%. I loved the Marchesa right away, but felt like I should try on some others before bringing in the last sample to try on…nothing even came close!

Why Emily decided to sell her wedding dress
I decided to sell my dress because I truly feel it is a beautiful work of art and should be worn again (and again) and not stored in a box for 20 years. People were ooohing and aaahing over my dress all night long and every girl should feel so all around adored on her wedding day!
