A morning ceremony set in a church on a hill top and a luncheon reception just around the corner made this Real Wedding delightfully traditional, yet oh so timeless. I love the cut of Richard’s three-piece suit and next to Andrea’s Monique Lhuillier gown their inspiration for their special day is complete, perfectly vintage and charming. Don’t miss Andrea’s pretty-to-playful accessory changes from the ceremony to reception: an airy and elegant fascinator for the ceremony and bold yellow gold bangles and matching statement necklace for the reception. Perfect!
Andrea + Richard | October 15, 2011 | Erindale, Ontario
The Ceremony
Our wedding took place in Erindale, Ontario, at 10:30am on top of a hill at St. Peters Erindale Anglican Church. We were very inspired by this church and our luncheon reception took place literally around the corner at The Glenerinn Inn. Both venues had so much character and charm that we felt was suitable for our fall wedding. The day turned out to be lovely, the sun was shining and the rain held back.
The Reception
I would describe our wedding theme as Vintage Charm. I incorporated white gourds, pumpkins, vintage milk white vases, dahlias, rinanculus and curly willow. Richard is of Nova Scotian heritage and I am of Trinidadian, Sri Lankan decent, so we decided to add elements from both our different backgrounds. During our cocktail hour we included Sri Lankan savories and had a steel pan player. For our luncheon reception we lit an oil lamp and for music we had two Cape Breton fiddlers. The reception was quaint and ended at 4 pm.
Andrea’s Dress Search
My DRESS! I went searching for dresses before I got engaged, lol. My wish was to get engaged before we moved into our house so I knew the proposal was on its way! That said I had THE DRESS on my desktop along with a collage of ideas for about a year. When the Monique Lhullier trunk show came to a boutique in Toronto I booked an appointment. I tried several of her dresses but when I put the DOLCE on, I knew it was the one! It was perfect for our theme and appropriate for the time of day.
How Andrea Felt in Her Wedding Dress
I felt so amazing in my dress…the best I have ever felt in my life. Beautiful and chic…I felt like a million bucks!
Why Andrea Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I always knew I would sell my dress. My mother bought it for me and I had told her I wanted to give her something back for the dress.
