Natural, earthy and romantic…Rachel + Phil’s genuine Safari outdoor wedding in Kenya’s Nairobi National Park is otherworldly. When Rachel, a city gal from New York, and Phil, an African Safari guide decided to tie the knot, it only seemed fitting for these two to celebrate a life together in the place where they fell in love. So good! I love that Rachel’s gorgeous Vera Wang White gown has a beautiful fern design made of beaded embroidery and metallic and silk thread…the perfect nod to some of the most majestic surroundings I have ever seen. Enjoy!
The Ceremony Phil is one of the top safari guides in Africa, so we knew we wanted to have a custom tailored Kenya wedding set under a big fig tree, on the banks of the Mbagathi River overlooking Nairobi National Park. We had our great friend officiating, and wrote the ceremony ourselves.
The Reception Dance floor set under the stars, tented dining with tons of candles everywhere, a campfire with haybales and Maasai blankets, tons of boos, and lions roaring in the distance!
Rachel’s Dress Search I think I tried on maybe five dresses. I knew it right away – it’s traditional with some beautiful details, like buttons the whole way down the back, a long train, and fern details on the bodice that fit in with our bush wedding theme. It is a very romantic dress.
