Rachel + Eric | Laure de Sagazan Wedding from Jessica Blaine Smith Photography
Rachel + Eric’s Toronto wedding was an elegant and stylish affair complete with fun antiques and rustic touches. We love that today’s featured couple chose an open-air venue in their neighbourhood and that the decor was put together with the help of loved ones. Don’t miss Rachel’s elegant and graceful Laure de Sagazan vintage inspired wedding dress. With original Calais lace and crepe de soie French silk, this dress is breathtaking. Thanks for sharing Rachel + Eric and congrats on your recent nuptials!
The Ceremony Our ceremony took place in the courtyard of Wychwood Barns, the gardens were in full bloom which made for a beautiful green back drop. Since we live very close to the barns and we are often there on the weekends, it felt very intimate and familiar which Eric and I both loved. We had worked with our pastor, a family member on Eric’s side of the family, to customize our ceremony and vows. Before the ceremony started pastor Paul made mention of how impressed he was at our effort and dedication to getting the ceremony and vows just right for us.
The ceremony was very emotional as my uncle walked me down the aisle (since my father had passed several years earlier) while my younger sibling played a piece on the guitar. My mom and sisters read a couple verses and said a prayer during the ceremony and Eric’s nephew handed us our rings. When we finally were husband and wife I felt so excited and happy to celebrate with our friends and family.
The Reception The reception was at the same venue, at an onsite restaurant. My family and I did the entire decor from the flowers and signage to the table runners and party favors. We had everyone gathered around harvest tables chatting and mingling while the food was being served. Throughout the course of dinner friends and family gave speeches and made toasts that had us laughing and crying – sometimes both! Later on Eric’s cousin played a song for our first dance and then a few of our friends carried on the live music for the rest of the night. Every aspect of the wedding had the help of our family and friends which made the day all that more special and intimate.
Rachel’s Dress Search I tried on at least forty dresses but nothing felt right to me, until I found my Laure de Sagazan dress. I love her vintage ethereal feel with feminine lace combined with a classic understated French style.
