It is always at treat when I get the opportunity to feature a wedding photographed by Tec Petaja and designed by Joy Thigpen. The couple, Kristine and Bruce, actually have one pretty amazing story which Joy was kind enough to share with us along with a few details behind their celebration…
Last May Kristine found herself the victim of a nearly fatal car crash. As a trauma nurse herself, she immediately assessed her conditions and knew she was in serious trouble. Miraculously, there were three other nurses on the road who happened to witness the accident and were immediately at her aide which saved her life. She told me the event changed so much for her and was the main catalyst for her and Bruce to go ahead and marry….almost exactly one year later.
It was truly delightful to work with Kristine as she has that rare perspective of someone who is just happy to be alive and get to share that life with the ones she loves. She knew she wanted to be married at the ruins of Barnsley Gardens. She instantly loved that it was both hauntingly beautiful and elegant, and also wild and unruly. After that, Kristine just wanted it to be beautiful, colorful, simple, and light-hearted.
