It was all about pale hues and interesting textures on the 2014 Oscars red carpet. Ah, the Oscars. While the big focus of the evening is, of course, on the most mesmerizing gowns and dazzling accessories on our favorite celebrities, for women getting married for a second time or getting ready for their vow renewals, it is the perfect time to get some inspiration and maybe find the perfect dress.
Lupita Nyong’o, the 12 Years A Slave actress wore a custom pleated baby blue Prada gown that rendered her like a modern Grecian goddess. Angelina Jolie looked amazing in a greige long sleeve fully embellished gown with sheer bodice and thin leather greige belt by Elie Saab Couture. Charlize Theron walked the red carpet at the 2014 Academy Awards, in her form-fitting black Dior gown with a sheer and banded train, was the epitome of glamour and drama. A dress so sexy and stunning that it called to mind John Singer Sargent’s portrait of Madame X.
Drama in the Hollywood diva sort of way was delivered by Kate Hudson in a glitzy caped number from Versace. Elegance is the perfect word to describe many of the dress choices seen on the Oscars red carpet including those of Cate Blanchett (nude Giorgio Armani with beading and pailettes), Jessica Biel (silvery blush from Chanel Couture), Sandra Bullock (strapless navy Alexander McQueen gown with soft drapes to one side), and Jennifer Lawrence (in a vibrant red Dior gown with flaps on the waist).
