This fall farm wedding comes to us from Asheville, North Carolina complete with a stunning autumn backdrop and artistic DIY touches. Nicki and Ben were married along the river’s edge with a very cool paper flower installation as the alter and the theme continued with the paper ball decorations in vibrant pops of color in the reception tent. I love that! Don’t miss the really yummy spread of desserts including wedding pies…or my favorite: the detailing on Nicki’s silk wedding gown called Genevieve from Claire Pettibone with handmade European lace and velvet appliqué. So stunning!

The Ceremony
We had an outdoor ceremony along the river’s edge. It was preceded by a cocktail hour (and followed by one, too!) and started at 4 pm. Our good friend, Christie, was the officiant. The flowers in the background were handmade from poster board and shower poufs. The ceremony was short and sweet. Ben and I wrote our own vows and danced our way out to James Brown “I Feel Good.”
The Reception
The reception was in a large outdoor tent on the farm field. After dinner, Ben danced with his mom, twirled me around the dance floor, and then the wedding party surprised us with a small flash mob to “Let’s Get the Party Started.” It was fantastic and certainly got the crowd dancing for the evening. We finished the night with a local hot dog cart for a midnight snack.
Nicki’s Dress Search
I was completely open to the style of dress. I knew I wanted it to be “different” or non-traditional. I only went to independent bridal studios, and I only tried on a handful of dresses before I tried on the Genevieve dress. The vintage look was perfect for a fall farm wedding, and I had not seen another dress quite like this one.

Why Nicki Decided To Sell Her Wedding Dress
A slinky silk dress with handmade European lace and velvet applique – I have never put something so amazing on my body in my whole life. I felt so very lucky to be able to afford this dress. It is absolutely silly for it to sit in a closet for years to come when someone else might be able to feel the same way that I did for half the price.
