backyard centerpiece ideas

Chinese lanterns, and strings of white lights hung every where. My main color was yellow — but I had some white & green accents here and there also. The backyard was full of greenery, and white & yellow flowers. We purchased mason jars from Publix to hold some of the flowers, but mostly to hold white candles. Online we purchased bottles & jars from Specialty Bottle. We used 4 different sized bottles to hold flowers for each centerpiece. The bottles sat on top of wood planks we rented from our florist.

Our menu was pretty much a huge salad bar. You would go through the line picking out what toppings you wanted on it. There was chicken & steak strips, as well as other basic salad toppings like onions, peppers, cheese etc. But you could also eat the meat separately from the salad if you wanted. The sides were baked potatoes – sweet & regular, wheat rolls or biscuits with homemade apple butter. To drink we had water with lemon, tea (sweet & unsweet), and lemonade. An old friend of ours catered. She’s catered other friends’ weddings before but she doesn’t have a real business, it’s sort of an at home thing. She really loves to cook!

Because alcohol is so expensive, and Nathan & I aren’t huge drinkers we had a coffee bar instead (we love coffee). We used Cafe Ala Carte. The guests could order any drink they’d like from lattes to cappuccinos. The jars we ordered from Specialty Bottle were used to hold our favors — Starbucks coffee beans! Another favor we had were Tazo tea bags (for the non-coffee drinkers). We used 3 different flavors — Wild Sweet Orange, Green Tea, & Calm – which I believe was just a plain black tea. We put them in ivory favor bags we purchased at Michael’s craft store.

Angela, thank you so much coming on Once Wed today to share your wedding. We wish you and Nathan a lifetime of happiness!
