Nat + Derek | Dennis Basso Wedding from Alissa Keane Photography

Nat + Derek’s seaside, Cap Cod wedding is a breath of fresh air.  Tucked in Pleasant Bay in Harwich, Massachusetts, today’s featured couple had to move their outdoor ceremony indoors on account of rain…But you would never know, the back-up plan for the ceremony looks great! I love the nautical themed invitations and stationary and the beach inspired wedding cake.  Don’t miss Nat’s flattering Dennis Basso gown complete with lace sweet heart neckline and long, luxurious train.

The Ceremony
Seaside/Cape Cod wedding.  The ceremony was meant to be outside under an arbor my father-in-law built, but it rained during the ceremony.  The resort staff did an amazing job to move everything from the outside to the back-up location.  Even though we wish it hadn’t rained, our ceremony was beautiful.  My husband’s youth pastor married us and he gave a really personal message. The resort overlooked Pleasant Bay in Harwich, Massachusetts. The landscaping was beautiful and full of flowers.

The Reception
The reception was kicked off with a cocktail hour overlooking the ocean view equipped with an open bar, hor d’ouvres, and a seafood bar that included oysters, shrimp and lobster.  From there we moved into the dining area with a dance floor.  My husband and I kicked off dinner with our first dance:  a foxtrot to “Beyond the Sea” performed by Kahootz.  Kahootz is an amazing band and they got everyone dancing for the entire reception after a plated dinner.  The dinner included two surf and turn options of chicken and shrimp or lobster and filet.  Four months later our friends still talk about how much fun they had at the reception.

Nat’s Dress Search
I definitely had a style in mind:  form fitting, mermaid shape with a sweetheart neckline.  I actually bought two dresses.  The first dress I got when I went to Kleinfelds with my mother and bridesmaids.  Everyone was crying when I tried it on and it felt like the perfect dress at the time.  Looking back on it now I realize that, even though it registered with my friends and mother, I kept asking if the dress could be altered beyond just how it fit.  Ultimately, I tried the same dress on alone (about two months later) at another store and realized I didn’t like the dress.  I went back to Kleinfelds with my aunt and found the perfect dress.  It has very detailed lace and it fit perfectly.  It was elegant with the length of the train and it was also good for dancing in at the reception afterward.    A bonus was that my husband really loved the dress too – I will never forget the way he first looked at me at our reveal.

How Nat Felt in Her Wedding Dress
Elegant, Beautiful, Sexy

Why Nat Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
While I like the idea of keeping my dress forever or maybe saving it for my future daughter or niece, styles change so frequently.  This dress brought me so much joy and it also makes me excited that it could bring another person as much joy.  Also, my husband and I want to buy our first house and every penny helps!
