Casey + Terry | Monique Lhuillier Wedding From Aihara Visuals

Casey + Terry | March 12, 2016 | Maui Hawaii

Small weddings are so warm and personal. And when they’re held at a breathtaking venue, they’re even more amazing.  Casey and Terry chose Olowalu Plantation House, a private ocean front estate with stunning views for their nuptials.  The picture perfect weather, charming decor and thoughtful details created a beautiful start to their marriage.

The Ceremony
Reverend Tino Rosete performed our ceremony. It was non-religious, but there were traditional Hawaiian Elements woven in (Conch shell blowing, ring blessing, etc). He is such a well-spoken man, it was very heartfelt and meaningful.

The Reception
Since our wedding was on the smaller side, details mattered! We put a lot of effort into our look (flowers, signage, lighting, flatware, etc).  Our overall vibe was classic to withstand the test of time, but also had an air of vintage/shabby chic. I also knew we had a diverse group, so we tried to tailor things that would suit a variety of different personalities. There were lawn games for those who didn’t want to dance, an amazing DJ for those who did, photo booth and a fun optional dessert bar- Ululani’s Shave Ice, which is a MUST HAVE when you’re in Maui!

Casey’s Wedding Dress Search
I knew from the start that I was a Monique Lhuillier kind of girl. I absolutely love her designs. I also didn’t want to overwhelm myself with so many dresses and designers, so I did a lot of research before I even started the dress buying process. So I only tried on dresses from her collection. That being said, I was dead set on a mermaid, more fitted kind of look. However, nothing was really working on me. I passed over my dress that I wound up buying. It wasn’t until a super helpful sales associate forced me to try on the “Reese” that I fell in love with it. Girls in the store were coming up to me and insisting that the dress was perfect on me. It was also comfortable, which was important to me since I love to dance and knew I’d be bopping all over the place at our wedding. The Reese was a perfect balance of being fancy and beautiful, but not fussy, which is rare.  I also thought the soft pink would look perfect in Hawaii. My husband teared up seeing me in my dress- it was so special and really pulled the look together of our wedding so perfectly.

How She Felt In Her Monique Lhuillier

Why She’s Selling Her Wedding Dress
I love my dress, but I am averse to keeping things that I don’t use. How tragic for something so gorgeous to hide away forever! I have beautiful photos and a wedding video that I will keep forever and will always have a reminder for how I looked and felt on our wedding day. I think it’s such a special, high fashion dress, but it comes with a price tag. I would love nothing more than to help another bride feel as magical as I did on my wedding day, at a reduced price no less.
