Laura + Derek | Priscilla of Boston Wedding from Samuel Luna Photography

Inspired by the blues and neutrals of their beachy backdrop in Riviera Maya, Mexico, Laura + Derek’s destination wedding is delightfully elegant-beach chic! I love how the linens and draped fabrics in white and sandy neutrals mix perfectly with this elegant terrace reception: accomplished with classic silver chiavari chairs, crisp white place settings and matching white florals, silver picture frames and strings of warm and romantic paper lanterns.  So light, relaxed and elegant.  And the perfect nod to Laura’s Priscilla of Boston trumpet gown called ‘Carter’ with beige satin sash or Derek’s grey silk suit.  Enjoy!

The Ceremony
Derek and I were married on April 20, 2013 at The Secrets Maroma Beach Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico.  The crystal clear blue water, white beaches, and tropical feel provided the perfect wedding location for two beach-lovers.  We had an intimate ceremony with 60 of our closest friends and family.  We said our vows underneath a gazebo looking out over the water and gorgeous tropical landscape.  I could not think of a more picturesque location to say our “I do’s.”

The Reception
While guests enjoyed the sunset and cocktails at the Seaside Terrace, the ceremony location was transformed into our dream reception space.  Chinese lanterns hung above the table settings to give a warm and inviting ambiance. Tables were adorned with floating votive candles and breathtaking orchid centerpieces.  Guests were served delicious tropical fare compliments of The Maroma Beach Culinary Team.  After dinner, guests danced the night away inside the wedding gazebo.  We kept our wedding simple as not to take away from the natural beauty of our location.  Our wedding color palette was inspired by the blues of the water and the neutrals in the sand. We added touches of silver for a classic and elegant feel.  The flowers, while being a focal point for our wedding décor, blended beautifully with the natural scenery of the location.

Laura’s Dress Search
From the moment I started my dress search I knew I wanted something timeless and classic.  I wanted a dress I could look back on years down the road and still love as much as the day I wore it.  Having an outdoor wedding close to the beach, I knew I did not want anything with rhinestones or a lot of beadwork.

After several visits to many bridal salons in the area, I purchased a satin mermaid dress.  Initially, I thought I found the one. It was simple and classic. However, almost immediately after my purchase, I began to have major dress regrets.  Concerned about what I was going to wear on my wedding day, I came across a brand new Priscilla of Boston ‘Carter’ on PreOwnedWeddingDresses.com.  It was everything I wanted and more!  This dress had a fitted silhouette and was made out of a gorgeous silk faille blend that was perfect for my outdoor venue.  It had a beautiful cathedral train and buttons that lined the back.  After getting in touch with the owner, I knew I had found THE dress! Two weeks later the dress arrived at my house.  It was even more beautiful in person then in the pictures! I immediately took the dress to my tailor who added a French bustle and gave the dress a sweetheart neckline.  With the alterations complete, I knew I finally had my dream wedding dress!
