The Ceremony
Our ceremony took place in an old colonial church and was decorated with garden roses, eucalyptus and candles. I walked in with my dad to Vanessa Perri’s a Thousand Years. We had a string and vocal sextet playing the music of the church. the lighting was warm giving a magical glow to the space.

The Reception
Our reception took place in an old colonial house. Guests were greeted with a cocktail reception in an internal courtyard with Mojitos and Cuban music. They were then seated indoors. The interior was decorated to give the sense of a garden and was inspired by the Ritz Carlton gardens in Paris. The flowers were a combination of garden roses and eucalyptus in shades of blush, off-white and pink. The chandeliers were decorated with eucalyptus and greenery garlands. We had a french band play during the dinner reception, which featured a 5-course dinner complete with a dessert station for guests. Afterwards we had a DJ, live latin music, and at midnight handed out hats, and flower garlands and had a music group playing ‘Champeta’ — a type of music from the city — and handed out different kinds of shots. The party lasted til 4:30 am!

I tried 8 dresses. When I tried on my dress it made me feel like it was the perfect dress and combination of things I was looking for something delicate, modern, and romantic. Given that it was an evening, black tie function, I wanted it to have some shimmer and this one had amazing intricate beading all over. at the same time the silk organza made it feel light, which was precisely what I wanted.
