Rustic, relaxed and wonderfully elegant…Katy + John tied the knot in Kamas, Utah on a picture perfect ranch. With strings of bistro lights overhead, an open-air barn for dancing and yummy food catered by a local food truck, guests were able to take in the mountain air for this inviting outdoor wedding celebration with style and simplicity. Don’t miss Katy’s strapless Tara La Tour, Theola wedding dress from the 2013 ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ collection. We love the very light grey double-faced silk satin, Chantilly lace and silk chiffon layers (and what a fun name for the collection!). Enjoy!

The Ceremony
We had an outdoor ceremony set against a grand tree backdrop in the mountains of Utah. Though neither of us are from Utah, we met and fell in love here and bonded over a love of the outdoors, so an outdoor ceremony was a must! We got incredibly lucky with cooling clouds, but no rain on the wedding day. I walked down the aisle to a Canadian Brass rendition of Canon in D chosen because of my father’s love of the quintet, and we left the ceremony after the “I Dos” to Ray La Montagne’s, “You are the Best Thing”. We decided to do a receiving line immediately after the ceremony so we could make sure and get to talk to everyone, leaving a bit less stress during the ceremony. Since we had taken all photos prior to the ceremony, we were then free to enjoy time with our friends and family!
The Reception
Our reception was on the same property. We started with cocktail hour immediately after the ceremony and our guests were entertained by the Rob Bennion Band. The caterer was a famous local food truck, the Chow Truck. They started serving delicious appetizers, and later opened up for dinner. We wanted to keep the reception fun and not stuffy, so there was plenty of room to mix and mingle, and open seating. After dinner we had heartwarming toasts, and a dessert table of cookies and cupcakes from local bakeries. The dancing took place in an old open sided barn on the property with bistro lights strung along the ceiling. The Rob Bennion band DJ’s tunes with a drummer accompaniment.
Katy’s Dress Search
I tried on 5 dresses total. When I put on the Tara La Tour, it was just so different and interesting I fell in love! The slight silver color didn’t wash me out like the other ivory and white ones I had tried and really made my eyes look great. I also liked that it did not have padding up top, as I wasn’t trying to fool anyone!

Why Katy Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
I always knew I was going to sell my dress after the wedding. Especially this dress, it is a unique work of art and has such dreamy fabric, it would just be a waste to have it hang in my closet forever! It would make me very happy to know someone else will be able to enjoy this amazing dress.
