This is a beautiful and airy garden wedding that comes to us from the South Coast Botanic Gardens in Palos Verdes Peninsula, California. Inspired by the natural beauty of Katherine + Andy’s open and majestic surroundings, today’s Real Wedding is perfectly charming, minimalistic with a touch of timeless French decor – like crisp white linens, antique drink carts, wild flowers mixed with plush pink and red roses and my favorite, rich leafy green bows draped over simple wood folding chairs. Of course, taking center stage and leaving me smitten is Katherine’s Vera Wang ball gown, Frieda, made of lightweight hand-painted gazaar to resemble Chantilly lace. Just decadent!

The Ceremony + Reception
I’ve always dreamed of a natural, picturesque wedding with understated beauty and simple charm. I loved South Coast Botanic Garden’s open grounds, majestic trees, flowers and greenery. It inspired a natural, soft, minimalistic yet sweet decor that would enhance the existing beauty of the venue without overpowering it. We tied the knot on a sparkling summer day in front of 200 guests.
Katherine’s Dress Search
I tried on quite a few dresses from various designers. I chose Vera Wang‘s Frieda because the gown has a perfect balance of many different elements (asymmetrical gathering of the skirt) and layers (silk gazaar, tulle, hand-painted lace) coming together. It’s unconventional but doesn’t steer away from classic and demure bridal look. I knew there wouldn’t be another gown like it.

Why Katherine Decided to Sell Her Wedding Dress
It was an amazing experience wearing this gown and it photographed beautifully. I would love for another bride to enjoy it as much as I did.
