Kara + James’ travel inspired wedding, is sure to make you smile as the bride and groom were not the only ones to live happily ever after. Kara’s dress called Candy by Monique Lhuillier had a happy ending too! Kara explains: “I sold my dress to a lovely girl that has now become my friend. We have gone out for dinner, and literally text each other every other day. I am so excited for her wedding!” Oh my goodness, I love that!! Other things to love: a wedding cake designed in the shape of vintage suitcases…super fun and flattering little black dress bridesmaid dresses that have a multiple wear appeal…equally fun bubblegum pink pumps for the gals…and Kara as the most ‘whimsical, feminine and beautiful’ bride. Just perfect, Enjoy!
Kara + James | September 15th, 2012 | Battery Gardens, New York, New York
The Ceremony
Our ceremony took place at Battery Gardens. The room was aglow with candles and we had panoramic views of the New York Harbor and Statue of Liberty. We were surrounded by our friends and family as we pledged to spend the rest of our lives together. It was truly romantic. After the ceremony, we invited our guests to join us for cocktail hour on the patio. We were greeted by a spectacular sunset and soft flamenco music strung by a guitarist.
The Reception
We kicked off our reception by dancing a lively rumba that we had been practicing for months. We wanted our first dance to inspire our guests and set the tone for some serious dancing. Our efforts were effective as the crowd was cheering and the dance floor was packed the entire night. One of our shared passions is traveling so we themed the reception around all of our travels. The guest tables were named after places we have been, and each guest received a postcard that detailed our experiences there. Our cake, shaped like vintage suitcases, topped off the theme.
Kara’s Dress Search
I began dress shopping with my mother and girlfriends and decided that it was too important of a decision to make without James. We always do everything together so why should this be any different. Therefore, I arranged for him to see my top picks. The first dress that he saw me in was Candy by Monique Lhuillier. When I stepped out of the fitting room the look on his face said it all. He told me that I was beautiful and that he was SOLD. I was thrilled, as it happened to be my favorite as well.

Whimsical, Feminine, & Beautiful
Why Kara Decided to Sell Her Dress
I loved my dress from the moment I put it on. Candy’s light, whimsical style complimented my shape and made me feel beautiful. I was able to dance the night away and everyone kept telling me how amazing my dress was…and I believed them. Since this dress brought me so much pleasure, I though why not share it with someone else. I have had the best experience with the PreOwnedWeddingDresses site. I sold my dress to a lovely girl that has now become my friend. We have gone out for dinner, and literally text each other every other day. I am so excited for her wedding!
