Joy + John’s destination wedding to Burgundy, France was a work of art and a beautiful illustration of history, romance and endless ambiance. What a rewarding experience it must have been for Joy + John and all 60 of their guests to take in the gorgeous French countryside, awe-inspiring 12th century architecture or the elegance of the Chateau de Monfort! Joy looks stunning in her Carolina Herrera gown called Heather – her clear vision to wear a dress with a flattering silhouette was the perfect choice for an absolutely perfect day. Enjoy!

The Ceremony
The Abbey of Pontigny, a couple of hours out of Paris, was a perfect setting to exchange our vows. This 12th Century church has always held a special place in our hearts- soon after meeting we had traveled to the region and the Abbey was one of our first stops together. A few candles were all that was needed to complement the extraordinarily high ceilings, beautiful frescos and solo guitarist.
The Reception
After the ceremony our 60 guests were whisked off to Chateau de Monfort, a restored castle, which boasted a spectacular view of the French countryside. The Chateau was filled with candles, black calla lilies; blue vanda orchids and red roses that made us all feel like we had stepped into a dream. We had a cocktail hour to begin and enjoyed a four piece jazz band before sitting down to dinner with some of the best food and wine that France has to offer.
Joy’s Dress Search
I didn’t have an exact style in mind but there were certain things I was looking for: I wanted something flattering and something that created a good silhouette. I was also looking for a strapless design and something that was glamorous while also epitomizing timeless beauty. When I saw pictures of the Carolina Herrera dress – I knew it was the one. When I was able to try it on, I was blown away by how wonderful I felt in the dress and how it looked even better than in the pictures.
