Jessica + Greg | Lela Rose Wedding from Laura Murray Photography

A wedding planner in her own right, Jessica’s rustic and romantic themed wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Winter Park, Colorado is an absolute knock-out. Jessica fell in love with the rosettes on her Lela Rose gown and talk about perfect decor inspiration for this glorious day?!  To die for details include: ombre carnation backdrop at the altar, stunning champagne ceremony with delicious array of iced drinks to sip on while Jessica + Greg said, ‘I Do’, phenomenal location and venue for their wedding weekend, and an antique buffet displaying 5 different cakes to chose from against a beautiful backdrop of vintage shutters covered in garden roses. Yes, you can take me there now, please!

The Ceremony
Greg and I were married at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in Winter Park, Colorado.  We choose this location because we wanted a wedding weekend rather than just one day. At Devil’s Thumb everything is in one location (ceremony site, reception, lodging, restaurants, spa). We also chose Devil’s Thumb for its privacy (the property it set on 5000 acres). Our guests had a great time hiking, mountain biking and using the spa during the weekend. We really enjoyed our venue and having the guests there for more than one day because we were able to spend time with our guests outside of the wedding. We were married by our close friend Drew and wrote most of the ceremony ourselves. One of Greg’s groomsman did a reading right after the start of the ceremony about love, patience, and kindness that we felt really set the tone. We also had a “champagne ceremony” where we placed love letters to each other inside a custom made wood box. The box houses the love letters along with a bottle of the same champagne that we drank on the day we got engaged. We plan to open the box on our first anniversary and each year thereafter to read the previous year’s letter and enjoy the champagne. After that, we’ll put a new letter and new bottle in for the next year. We also wrote our own vows. We only shared the vows with our officiant but not with each other so they were a surprise when we both heard them that day.

The Reception
Our reception was held in a Civil War area barn at Devil’s Thumb Ranch. I chose decorations that would complement Devil’s Thumb and our overall feel. For example, I chose the wood signs and calligraphy throughout the wedding because the dark stained wood provided a rustic element while the calligraphy added romance to the setting. The napkins were peach linen and the runner was natural linen. The napkin was wrapped with personalized ribbon that said “better together”. The note in the napkin was a thank you to our guests for coming. It was important to us to let them all know how much we appreciated that could make it and spend the day with us. The vases I picked because the rectangular shape complimented the long tables. The flowers were simple arrangements of scabiosa pods, white and pink astilbe, white and pink hydrangea, Juliet garden roses, and café au lait dahlias.

Jessica’s Dress Search
Since I am a wedding planner I see a lot of dresses. I thought I knew what I wanted. I started my dress search with a mermaid dress in mind, but fell in love with the Rosettes on this dress. This dress made me feel amazing.

How Jessica Felt in Her Wedding Dress
I felt beautiful, airily, and romantic in my dress.

Why Jessica Decided To Sell Her Wedding Dress
I made the decision to sell my dress because I really want to give another bride an opportunity to feel like I did in it.
