Planning a 25th wedding anniversary with a vow renewal ceremony? A quarter-century together is certainly worth celebrating, so check out a few tips for planning the ultimate event that demonstrates how far you’ve come and how much you still cherish each other:
Invitations
Request the “pleasure” of everyone’s company when sending invitations. There’s no need to use the word “honor,” as this isn’t a religious ceremony, however invitations are still important so everyone can RSVP!
Open Bar
Who doesn’t love an open bar, whether at a wedding, vow renewal or other event? Even if you’re only serving wine and beer, guests will be more than happy to take advantage.
Photographer/Videographer
While a videographer is optional, it’s definitely a good idea to at least hire a photographer for your event. If looking to save money, hire a family member or friend with photography skills. He or she will be happy to cut you a deal!
Dancing
A dance floor is a necessary part of any wedding or vow renewal ceremony, so consider whether you budget allows for a DJ or live band. Another inexpensive option is to make your own playlist and rent sound equipment.
Cake
Whether you want to cut cake together is up to you, but it’s still nice to have one! Order a replica of your original cake or go for something completely different.
Tux and Gown
Wearing white is’t a bad idea, but you aren’t a bride anymore, so why not take the opportunity to pick from any number of dress styles and colors. Your hubby can wear a tux or at least a nice suit.
‘Walk Down the Aisle’ Song
While playing ‘Here Comes the Bride’ isn’t exactly appropriate, plenty of other romantic tunes are available to choose from.
Flowers
Carrying a bouquet is perfectly acceptable for vow renewals, a beautifully simple white one may be perfect. Your husband could be wearing a boutonniere. If having others stand up with you, they can wear corsages.
Rings
Why not exchange anniversary bands? Heck, you can choose bands similar to the ones you originally wanted, but couldn’t afford at the time of your wedding!
Venue
Opt for the ceremony and reception in the same room or hall if desired–it makes everything easier and will likely cost less. However, if money is not an issue, plan for different locations or a destination vow renewal if you want!
Table Decorations
Tables featuring photos from different stages of your life together make great centerpieces.
Remember, these are only suggestions! Feel free to do whatever you like–the ceremony is all about you and your husband, after all!
