Hillary + Garrett | November 21, 2015 | Palm Springs, California
Intimate. Warm. Personal. That’s the best way to describe Hillary and Garrett’s November wedding. The venue was a perfect match for their elegant backyard dinner party vision. And their decor was beautifully understated and elegant. Hillary’s Monique Lhuillier Timeless feels like it was designed with her wedding in mind – it’s no wonder as soon as she saw it she knew it was her dress.
The Ceremony
We were married in the atrium of the Gene Autry House which is very architectural and really needs no adornment due to the striking fuchsia bougainvillea that was blooming in the background. The bridal party consisted of my Maid of Honor and his Best Man, and our officiant was his Step Father. We wrote our own vows which made everyone laugh and somehow simultaneously cry. It was perfect.
The Reception
Getting married in the Gene Autry Estate allowed us to keep the guest list intimate. Garrett and I wanted it to feel like the most simplistically elegant backyard dinner party our guests had ever been too. The linens were white, china was white with gold (our overall color scheme was white, blush and gold), the florals were white with silver dollar eucalyptus and David Austin Garden Roses. The band we hired sang Motown all night while our guests sipped signature Old Fashions from the bar.
Hillary’s WeddingDress Search
I feel like I didn’t try on that many dresses compared to other stories I hear! I probably ended at a total of 15. On the day I found my dress it was the second appointment of the day and the second dress I tried on at the shop. I was going for a classic silhouette that wasn’t strapless or too beaded. Turns out this is the hardest thing to find!! I went to Monique Lhuillier because I had seen a dress in Brides magazine that I HAD to try on. I was long sleeved in a champagne color. They happened to be having their Spring 2015 trunk show, so the lovely gal saw the style I was going for and immediately ran for what she called “the perfect dress”. And she was right. The moment I saw my dress I knew. I was the perfect combination of classic, yet sexy with just the right amount of sparkle and the color was too die for.

Why She’s Selling Her Wedding Dress
I can’t bear the thought of this piece of art that brought me so much joy sitting in a box for all eternity. Some other bride needs to enjoy this beauty!
